Especially artists on dA. DO NOT DENY IT! Every artist that puts their art out in the public wants it to be noticed and wants to receive some attention for it.
Its called getting fans, making money, making a LIVING, and doing something because you love doing it and sharing it with the world and making a living off of it.
Honestly, I do get disappointed when stories or art that I've worked hard on get about 5-20 views. Why? Because I poured my heart and soul into them and placed it out into the public hoping that some people would like it.
Its called publicity, deal with it.

I agree completely with ~musicalanimelover. While some artists might be "attention whores", there are a majority of us who are just "attention wanters"- there being a HUGE difference. So maybe you want to change your choice of words, because bluntly. You're wrong.

I 50% agree with this, while I also 50% disagree.
I agree because whenever I post something (usually a story but who cares about that?), in the back of my mind, I can honestly say that I want it to get a good amount of attention. But, I'm sure that all artists, writers, musicians, etc. want that, even if they don't admit it.
But I disagree with the term "attention whore" being used in this case. There is a line between "wanting attention" and "whoring for attention", and alot of (REAL) artists only want attention for their work. It becomes "attention whoring" when they'll do ANYTHING to get that attention, if you catch my drift.
I know I probably just restated what everyone else said, but I just wanted to give my opinion.

People say "attention whore" like it's a bad thing. It can mean many things.

Yes, people want other people to enjoy their artwork. How does that make one an attention whore? Enlighten me, oh wise, insightful one.

Sigh, because nothing gets people's attention better than hyperbole. I'm sorry but this stamp is the very epitome of attention whoring. You clearly don't believe what you've written on your stamp, as given by your words, "I wouldn't have(said attention whore), actually, if I wasn't trying to make a point." and that you clearly don't even see what artists do as being negative i.e. the only reason that they get called attention WHORES.

But of course who would have bothered with a stamp that says, "Artists Like Attention"? So you made this intentionally controversial just so people would look at it. Seriously man, just stick to your usual, "Incest/abortion/gays/etc. are wrong" stuff. At least it's you being honest.
